The K-9 Division of IRG is available to respond 24/7/365. IRG can provide K-9 search teams to all types of organizations. The presence of drug and/or explosives, also referred to as contraband, are an all to present reality for schools, corporations and various other types of organizations. IRG wants to assist you in locating the contraband and let your students, employees and tenants know that the presence of these types of substances will not be tolerated.
IRG dogs and handlers train as a team and often times the dogs live with their handler. IRG dogs and handlers are trained as a team using the real odors they are being taught to detect, whether it is narcotics or explosives. Just as the dogs are taught how to respond when they detect a trained odor, the handlers are trained to be very observant of the dogs behavior and body language, so that they know when the dog has found a substance on which they have been trained to alert. To maintain security, we do not go into a great deal of detail on exactly what substances our dogs are trained to detect or exactly how they are trained to alert. We can tell you we have both passive and active alert dogs and the team dispatched to your location is hand-picked to meet the needs of your organization. For example, we would not take an active alert, patrol trained dog into a school.

Did you know that the United States is 5% of the world’s population, yet we consume 65% of the world’s illegal drugs? Drugs have moved from our streets into our schools, offices and homes. In many cases when the drugs move into these places, we don’t know it until it is too late. With violence on the rise in every region of the country, and with drugs playing a huge supporting role, it is our job as teachers, employers, parents and leaders to remove as many contributing factors as possible and eliminate these situations before they arise.
One of the most often overlooked places for drugs, is the place we send our children every day. Our schools have become the victims in the fight to eliminate illegal drugs. Most teens will readily admit that drugs are in the school and easy to obtain. The IRG K-9 division can assist you in being proactive and deterring illegal drugs in your organization. In many locations schools have to rely on law enforcement to perform searches, but with this option schools are at the mercy of the local department when they need a search. Also, parents and students alike are not always comfortable with aggressive K-9’s in schools. This is where IRG comes in, we do not enter schools representing a law enforcement agency, and we are available to perform both scheduled and unscheduled searches. We recommend a minimum of 1-2 random searches per month, the date and time is to be known only to a select number of school officials. Unscheduled searches are used when the school administration is made aware of an issue and wants to verify the information.
Businesses are not immune to having illegal drugs on site. You as an employer have the right to ensure that your workplace is drug free. IRG can assist you with our discreet and confidential “Business Search” that has been designed to reduce liability and demonstrate through “Due Diligence” that you are doing all you can to achieve and maintain a drug free working environment.

In addition to the narcotic and weapons detection, IRG can also offer K-9 teams trained in explosives detection. We provide services to corporate security, executive protection, dignitary protection, mass gathering events, sports and entertainment venues. We take the threat of terrorism very seriously, especially in today’s global climate, of threats and bombings, both in the United States and Abroad. These things can strike at any time, so we must take all necessary precautions to minimize the dangers that can strike us when we least expect it. Explosive Detection Dogs (EDD) are used worldwide and are known for their accuracy and dependability. These teams can be integral part of any protection detail and when coupled with your specific response plan create a very effective tool that can be integrated in much the same manner as any other. There are very few EDD teams available throughout the U.S., we are one of the few companies to offer this service. IRG EDD teams are ready to deploy and can often be deployed in the same amount of time as any protection detail and by the same mode of transportation. Explosive Detection Dog Teams fill two distinct roles in operational security:
First, public knowledge that EDD teams are assigned to a facility acts as a deterrent to persons who may attempt to use explosives. This reduces the tension and concerns of clients, tenants and employees.
Second, utilizing the canines’ superior sense of smell, a well trained EDD team can conduct a significantly more effective search of any facility that may have received a threat, in far less time than almost any number of people. Using EDD teams also helps reduce the risk to persons who otherwise would be searching without the dogs’ unmatched sense of smell.
If your organization is unfamiliar with canine detection work and how it can assist you, we will perform an initial site survey and work with you to establish drug related policies and education programs including contraband recognition.
